Newcastle United offered early summer transfer opportunity as Premier League star weighs up options
Newcastle United are keeping a watchful eye on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's situation at Everton.
Eddie Howe is a fan of the Toffees No 9 but they may well wait to see if the Sheffield-born star waits to run his deal down. He must also see where he fits in as far as new Everton boss David Moyes is concerned.
The Magpies were quoted over £37million for Calvert-Lewin last summer and walked out of talks with the Merseyside club. With no new deal agreed for the striker he is now able to talk to overseas clubs about a possible pre-arranged deal with Atalanta and Fiorentina said to be keen.

If he holds out until the summer, Newcastle could offer Calvert-Lewin a big payday if he signs on a free transfer. Interest in Calvert-Lewin does not get the pulses racing on Tyneside and the Everton man is not deemed the dream signing for Newcastle.
With just two goals to his name this season it is little wonder that the imagination of fans is not being captured. But for all the questions over the striker's fitness issues and availability, Calvert-Lewin has played 19 times this season.
He missed the FA Cup third round clash against Peterborough United with an ankle injury but is expected back soon. Newcastle need to make a serious consideration to what happens next season if Callum Wilson does not stay.
Senior striker cover is badly needed for Alexander Isak and if Wilson also decides to move for a pay day, Calvert-Lewin would fit the bill in the eyes of Howe and bearing in mind the duo share the same Wasserman agency, he would not have to look far for a stance on the striker's intentions.
It remains to be seen whether Wilson returns any time soon for Howe this season. After playing just 57 minutes this season following a summer back injury, Wilson picked up a hamstring problem against Brentford.
Wilson said: "Callum is on the grass today. Not training with the first team. He’s making good progress. We’re very pleased with him.
"Such a difficult situation for him. He didn’t feel right after the game against Brentford and the scan showed a bigger problem than he felt – and it’s meant weeks on the sidelines."
