Newcastle United have been contacted about the prospect of signing one of Turkey's hottest prospects in Besiktas' Semih Kılıçsoy.

The 19-year-old is a first-team regular for the Istanbul side and has caught the eye in the Europa League this season with his club aiming for a play-off place this spring. Kılıçsoy has previously courted interest from Everton, Aston Villa and Arsenal and is deemed a player that would be capable of going straight into a senior squad.

Chronicle Live understands that intermediaries are working to find the teenager a new club and that Newcastle are on the youngster's wish-list. The winger has a price tag of around £16million with nobody biting at that price just yet in the top-flight.

Kılıçsoy has been capped four times by his country and has played at Euro 2024 and in last autumn's UEFA Nations League fixtures. Fans of a certain vintage will remember famous Turkey star Emre who was signed by Graeme Souness, with the 5ft 7in midfielder swirling home a free-kick in the 3-2 win over Sunderland back in 2005.

Fikayo Tomori links

Not for the first transfer window, Newcastle find themselves linked with former Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori. The 27-year-old is now in his fourth year at the San Siro with AC Milan.

Depending on Fabian Schar's next move, Tomori could come back into the picture for Newcastle. Football Insider today credit Aston Villa and United with fresh interest.

Lloyd Kelly future

It looks like Juventus have moved on swiftly after being told that the ex-Bournemouth star could cost them £25million. Even the prospect of banking a loan fee could not tempt Eddie Howe to part with Kelly and the centre-back now looks set to stay on Tyneside and fight for his place.

Juve have instead opted for Renato Veiga who, crucially, will not have a buy in the summer obligation on his loan deal from Chelsea. In truth, Newcastle can't afford to let Kelly go given their lack of cover at centre-back with Jamaal Lascelles out until March.

Sean Longstaff decision

There has been talk of a £15m sale this month with Everton linked heavily and even a change of management at Goodison Park, with David Moyes coming in for Sean Dyche, does not mean interest has disappeared. Why?

Because Longstaff is deemed a good solid Premier League buy and has the stats and top-flight reliability record that a manager craves. However, it's also why Eddie Howe is eager to keep him around and while he may not be getting a game at the minute, there will be a time when the head coach turns to him.

Any confusion about his contract running out at the end of the season has now been cleared up, with Longstaff tied down until summer 2026 at least.
