Newcastle United player ratings as stars plummet to 4/10 in awful home defeat against Fulham
Newcastle United stumbled at home to Fulham to lose their second consecutive match at St James' Park. The Magpies grabbed the lead eight minutes before the break after Anthony Gordon's run down the left with the Scouser's cross - intended for Alexander Isak - deflecting into the path of Jacob Murphy who made no mistake from 10 yards out.
Fulham equalised just after the hour mark after a mix-up between Murphy and Sandro Tonali. The Italian's pass did not reach its intended recipient with Raul Jimenez steaming in to pinch the ball.
Jimenez then progressed up the field with the ball and played in Adama Traore before Antonee Robinson clipped the ball to the ex-Wolves man who fired home the equaliser.
The Magpies then slipped behind with eight minutes to go. Fulham sub Andreas Pereira was fouled by Gordon and the visitors were handed a free-kick deep on the left.
Pereira curled the ball towards goal with Rodrigo Muniz getting the slightest of touches to beat Martin Dubravka from close range.
Here's how the players rated against the Cottagers:
Martin Dubravka 6
Some good saves including a fine stop to deny Smith-Rowe at the start of the second period. Then beaten twice in the last half hour
Tino Livramento 7
Looked dangerous in the first half but crucially squandered a great chance to double the lead. A little unlucky to be taken off
Fabian Schar 4
Did not cover himself in glory for either Fulham goal
Dan Burn 5
Battled hard but this was a struggle overall
Lewis Hall 6
Started well but spluttered before being taken off
Joelinton 4
Not a great day in the office with a booking, a first half effort blazed over and an injury.
Bruno Guimaraes 4
Another who started well but disappeared as the game went on. It was easy for Fulham through the middle - too easy
Sandro Tonali 6
The Italian almost fired Newcastle ahead with a stunner. Caught in a mix up with Murphy after the break with his pass leading to the equaliser
Anthony Gordon 6
An assist and a hard working show
Jacob Murphy 7
Opened the scoring in the first half when things looked good. A real threat and applauded off
Alexander Isak 5
Unlucky to see an effort strike the bar.
