Newcastle United transfer deal 'approved' as Jorge Mendes meeting held
Newcastle United took a huge step towards the Champions League qualification places with a win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. Eddie Howe's side made it six wins on the bounce in the Premier League and will be looking to continue their rich vein of form into the Carabao Cup this week.
The Toon travel to the Emirates Stadium looking to cause an upset in North London. Arsenal are the favourites heading into the double header, but Howe's men will be looking to prove a point and reach their second Carabao Cup Final in three years.
The outing in North London could be the last time we see Martin Dubravka in a Newcastle shirt, with the Slovakian poised to move to Saudi Arabia.

Man City hold Jorge Mendes meeting as Newcastle watch on
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are said to have held talks with agent Jorge Mendes regarding a possible move for Abdukodir Khusanov. That's according to FootMercato, who claim Newcastle and Real Madrid are also keen on a move for the young defender, but it's Pep Guardiola's side who have held initial talks.
Though Mendes' agency Gestifute do not represent the defender, it's the Portuguese super agent who is seemingly managing a possible transfer this month. RC Lens have slapped a reported £20million asking price on the head of the defender, with Real Madrid said to be 'very interested' though that may be to add pressure on the likes of Man City and Newcastle to make a move in January.
Newcastle will be in the market for a right-sided centre-half at some point this year, although whether it is this transfer window or the summer remains to be seen. Their bid to sign Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi in the summer fell through, and Uzbekistan international Khusanov - with a strong physical presence and speed across the ground - could be seen as a long-term replacement for Fabian Schar.
Martin Dubravka deal 'approved'
Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab have reportedly reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign 35-year-old goalkeeper Dubravka.
The Slovakian international has been Eddie Howe's shot stopper of choice in recent weeks, filling in for the injured Nick Pope. However, with the veteran goalkeeper out of contract this summer, the Magpies look set to cash in on him with a move to Saudi Arabia edging closer.
Saudi publication Al-Sharq Al-Awsat claim that the league's Financial Sustainability Committee have approved the signing of Dubravka, however, it won't be formally announced until after the Magpies' first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Arsenal this week.
The Magpies currently have five senior goalkeepers on their books, with number one Pope currently out injured. Howe admitted in his press conference on Monday morning that 'business logic' may see Dubravka sold this month.
Jonathan David enquiry
Four unnamed Premier League clubs have made enquiries for Lille striker Jonathan David, according to Sky Sports.
Newcastle have long held an interest in the Canadian striker, with competition now building over a summer move. He is expected to stay in France this season, but with his contract up in the summer, is able to speak to clubs. Two Serie A sides are said to have made offers for the 24-year-old, who is thought to be focused on Lille for now.
With Callum Wilson injured, and unlikely to be offered a new contract when his current deal expires in the summer, Newcastle need to bolster their attacking ranks. They ended the Spurs game at the weekend with Joe Willock as centre forward after the replacement of Aleksander Isak.
