Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron could be set for a switch to a Premier League rival in January.

The out of favour winger has barely been used from the start this season with memories of his golden 2022/23 campaign no fading quickly as he struggles to find form. Almiron was linked with a move to River Plate earlier this year but a potential loan deal to Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Wolves have now been mooted by sources close to his agent.

A loan deal with a view to a permanent may suit Newcastle as they look to bolster their finances in the fierce world of PSR. Almiron has two years left on his contract and is behind Jacob Murphy in the pecking order.

His agent Daniel Campos said: "Although Miguel is not happy with the minutes he has in England, he wants to stay and fight for his place at Newcastle. "The coach (Eddie Howe) always supported him . When he made a request, he asked him not to leave. It must be a tactical or temporary issue."

"They offered around 18 million dollars . We had arranged a contract with them, but the club rejected the proposal from the United States."

Almiron is yet to score in the 2024/25 season after seven appearances and his last goal for the club was almost 12 months ago. Back then he netted in a 3-0 win over Fulham at St James' Park in the Premier League. Almiron had 30 career goals for Newcastle since his £21million move from Atlanta United in 2019.

Newcastle's summer target wanted by big guns

Given Eddie Howe's downbeat assessment on January transfers, it is now looking doubtful whether the Magpies can muster up a £70million bid for England defender Marc Guehi again.

And talk on the agent circuit is now generating that Guehi may have other options in the winter window. Reports of Manchester City eyeing the centre-back have started to emerge in the past few days.

Although, Newcastle's need for a new centre-back are also questionable with Sven Botman close to a first-team return and Jamaal Lascelles eyeing a new year comeback.

Martin Dubravka agrees personal terms

Fresh reports out of Saudi Arabia this morning claimed that 35-year-old Newcastle stopper Martin Dubravka has agreed terms with Al-Shabab.

On Sunday Arriyadiyah.com claimed that a deal in principle had been struck between Newcastle and the Saudi side. And while Eddie Howe stated last night that he wanted nobody to leave in January, a cash deal could be too tempting for the keeper that turns 36 in January.

His departure would almost certainly spark enquiries over Burnley keeper James Trafford again like last summer but the Clarets are looking for a profit on the man they paid Man City £15million in 2023.
