Newcastle United urged to play the waiting game for £55m-rated rising star despite rival interest
Newcastle United have been sent advice about the possibility of signing Southampton star Tyler Dibling.
Reports in recent weeks have claimed that the Magpies have expressed an interest in signing Dibling before the January transfer window closes. Dibling has starred for Southampton this season, despite the Saints languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Newcastle have until February 3 to complete their transfer business before the window closes, and Chronicle Live understands that United are not expected to sign any new players before Monday's deadline and are instead looking ahead to the summer window.

That has not stopped rumours, though, that Newcastle could be in the race to sign Dibling. The Magpies did express an interest in signing the playmaker before he went on to sign for Chelsea.
A report from the Daily Mail recently claimed that Southampton value Dibling at £55million, and former Newcastle star Chris Waddle has explained why his old club should be cautious when it comes to the interest in signing the 18-year-old.
“I think he’s (Tyler Dibling) got a lot of potential," he told AceOdds.com. "He carries the ball well, he’s brave and likes to have a go. He’s a young player that’s come into a struggling, struggling side and he’s grasped it.
“He’s just gone out to play his game. He’s been thrown in and it looks like he’s said ‘sod it I'am going to enjoy myself.
“He looks like he’s got a great future. A very good future and you can see why he’s been linked with Newcastle and Tottenham. He’s got great ability and vision. He has the making of a very good player."
“But I’m old school and I like to see players do it year in year out," Waddle continued. "We’ve seen players who are expected to be the next best thing and it never worked out.
“Modern-day players should be looking to work on their weaknesses which helps their game. Dibling is going the right way and I can see him being an international footballer and playing for a big club.
“It would still be a gamble signing him. He’s got a lot to learn. Whoever does sign him needs to keep him focused on his path for him to be a great player.”
