Newcastle United's £18.5m transfer 'interest' emerges and Bruno Guimaraes Man City latest
Eddie Howe and Newcastle United continue to be linked with various players across the globe in what could be a hugely important month for the Magpies. The Toon are just outside of the Premier League top four and the Champions League qualification places.
A return to Europe's elite competition would be a major boost in terms of the club's battle with PSR and would help unlock major investment streams. Given Newcastle's current standing, the club are in a great position to kick on with a few additions this month, but that could prove difficult given the ongoing battle with FFP.
The Magpies know they have to sell players this month if they are to reinvest into the squad, with doubt now being cast over Martin Dubravka's reported move to Saudi Arabia. With that in mind, ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest transfer news doing the rounds at the moment.

Bruno Guimaraes 'top' of Man City wishlist
Newcastle United playmaker Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium on more than one occasion over the past 18 months, and those rumours have reignited again. Of course, the Magpies don't want to sell the Brazilian maestro, but that won't stop potential transfer speculation.
According to Gazetta Dello Sport, Guimaraes is at the top of City's wishlist to add defensive stability to their midfield in Rodri's absence. Pep Guardiola has already spoken about his admiration of the midfielder, but the £100m price tag is said to be an issue for Man City.
The reigning Premier League champions have struggled this season in the top flight and look set to invest heavily in their squad in the next few windows.
Newcastle tracking AC Milan defender
Pete O'Rourke claims Newcastle are considering a move for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori this month, with Eddie Howe's side looking to strengthen their options in the heart of defence.
Tomori had fallen out of favour at the San Siro earlier this season, making just nine Serie A appearances so far this season. The former Chelsea defender is under contract until the summer of 2027, but it remains to be seen how new boss Sergio Conceicao views the 27-year-old.
Tomori returned to Milan's starting line-up for the Italian Super Cup semi-final and then final as AC Milan went on to lift the trophy. Conceicao's arrival at the San Siro has given all players a clean slate, but Newcastle are said to still be alert to any developments, with the England international valued at £18.5million according to transfermarkt.
Transfer dominoes
Alan Nixon claims Newcastle United are keen on both Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo and Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga as Eddie Howe's side look to strengthen their options on the right flank. The Magpies have been repeatedly linked with both wingers over the last 12 months as they to return to the Champions League places.
Though there's been little movement so far this window, Nixon claims the Cherries are hopeful of signing Liverpool winger Ben Doak as a replacement for Semenyo, who is also of interest to Arne Slot's side. Andoni Iraola's side have slapped a reported £50m asking price on the 25-year-old's head, with Nixon claiming a deal would be difficult to complete for both the Magpies and the Reds this month.
He suggests a move for Doak and Semenyo is more likely this summer, and Liverpool may have an advantage in negotiations given the interest in either player. However, he doesn't rule Newcastle out of the race.
