Newcastle United's £250m PIF goal unveiled as supremo hails 12 new sponsors

Newcastle United commercial supremo Peter Silverstone has made it clear that the Magpies must continue the "relentless chase" to catch up the Premier League's big guns.

The former Arsenal supremo has revealed how Newcastle have attracted 12 new sponsors since the takeover and continue to have the backing of Saudi Arabia majority owners PIF. After the success of STACK this year, United are continually looking at ideas with a new scheme to spend a day with a legend at St James' Park now available to those who are struggling to get access to the stadium due to intense match day sales.

Indeed, for £40 (adults), Newcastle are selling tickets for ground tours with club cult hero Brian Kilcline. The former centre-back, Keegan's first signing in 1992, is renowned for helping turn the club around and laying the foundations for the Entertainers.

In the eyes of Silverstone, all events "off the field" are vital in order to boost Newcastle's PSR case. In his last Press conference, Eddie Howe admitted that Newcastle's revenue was not were the club wanted it.

Silverstone, speaking at a fan event at the STACK, said: "The changes we have made require a lot of support and investment. I have had great support from my colleagues but ultimately the ownership group who believed in what we propose to do.

"Which is ultimately chase that relentless growth that we need to capture and hopefully surpass teams close to us. That is a lot of investment in people and the amount of people who are focused on driving commercial revenue has changed considerably.

"Then there's infrastructure which is our website, our app and the hospitality areas. We have really invested in those areas.

"We have tried to see the results from that and have brought on 12 new partners since 2022/23. We have driven commercial business by 110% and partnerships to 100%. We are really focused on delivering that revenue."

Newcastle have welcomed the likes of Adidas, Noon, Sela and InPost in the last 12 months and the club is growing at a rapid rate.

However, while Newcastle recorded a revenue increase of £250million in the last set of accounts, Silverstone warned: "Also that revenue requires to keep growing. None of our competitors are stopping.

"The clubs that are above us are not stopping growing. As Darren Eales says, we just need to grow quicker.

"We are trying to build relationships locally but travelling to Japan, Saudi Arabia and the US. We're engaging on social media to catch up with those clubs."

Silverstone knows that the growth must continue going into 2025, he said: "My role as chief commercial officer is to generate revenue. Revenue comes both locally and globally now.

"I am tasked with the venue team which maximises the revenue from the venue including STACK and the brand marketing digital media team which grows our brand presence and digital marketing abilities both here in Newcastle and globally. Our growth will come globally."
