Newcastle United's Marcus Rashford 'swap deal' amid Alexander Isak proposal and Italian 'scouting'
Newcastle United are yet to make any first-team signings as we approach the midway point of the January transfer window, with the main focus on departures this month.
Though there continues to be speculation linking the likes of Alexander Isak with a move away from St. James' Park, the reality of a January transfer move for the Swedish striker is highly unlikely.
Lloyd Kelly, Martin Dubravka, Miguel Almiron have all been linked with moves away from the club, but there are varying factors to consider with each player. With that in mind, ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and gossip.

Marcus Rashford Newcastle swap deal
Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister has urged the Reds to try and sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak in the coming months with a view to Marcus Rashford heading to St. James' Park
Speaking to Betano, via the Daily Star, he said: "Alexander Isak would immediately improve the Manchester United squad.
"They’re still looking for a player to get them goals – and he looks the finished article and full of confidence. They’re still looking for a player to get them goals. I’m not sure whether they will fork out £150million, which is what Newcastle want. But he’d be a great signing for any Premier League side.
“It’s a shame the club didn’t try and get the Harry Kane deal done when he was on the market. I’d say Isak will be out of the price range for the club, but maybe if something can be done using Marcus Rashford going the other way, I don’t know. The club just need a goalscorer."
ChronicleLive says: "Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a move away from St. James' Park but the Magpies stance is clear. Meet the asking price for the Swedish striker or move on. Eddie Howe's side have no intention of entertaining proposals from interested parties for anything less that the reported £150million and Manchester United are a club with little to no transfer funds available to them this month. Marcus Rashford isn't a player under consideration for Newcastle. A complete non-starter."
Newcastle continue to scout AC Milan defender
Football Insider claims Newcastle are readying a move for former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori having scouting the English centre-half on a number of occasions this season. The 27-year-old had dropped down the pecking order at the San Siro earlier this season, before being reintegrated into the team under new boss Sergio Conceicao.
It's not the first time the Magpies have been linked with the defender, with it public knowledge the Toon want to strengthen their options in the heart of defence.
Chronicle Live says: "As is the case with any incoming signing, Newcastle will need to offload players before sanctioning a move. Interest in Tomori is not necessarily a new development, having been linked with him in previous windows and his homegrown status would tick a box for Eddie Howe and the Magpies' recruitment team. One to keep an eye on if the right price can be agreed and Milan are willing to sell."
