Newcastle United's 'smiling' star transfer hint, Juventus move on and striker hurt in training
Eddie Howe intends to name both Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly in his squad that flies to Southampton tomorrow afternoon.
The pair were both involved in training despite a week of transfer speculation with Almiron's move to Atlanta United edging closer and Kelly linked with Juventus. However, both have remained on Tyneside and Juventus, unable to negotiate an agreement for Kelly, have now switched their attention back to Renato Veiga of Chelsea.
Juve's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli had made a dash to London for urgent talks with Blues officials yesterday. Howe is determined to hold on to Kelly while he is open-minded about Almiron and won't complain if there are any late hitches in the talks with Major League Soccer side Newcastle paid £21million for the forward's services in 2019.

Almiron was pictured smiling at Benton while Kelly had a more focused pose ahead of the clash with the Saints. Newcastle, who signed Kelly on a free transfer from Bournemouth, are believed to value the 25-year-old at £25m. Having loaned Alex Murphy out to Bolton Wanderers earlier this week, the football department have made the case to the club's board that they can't afford to strip away another layer of cover from Howe's Champions League challenging squad.
A short statement on the club's website underlined the importance of this weekend's encounter at St Mary's. It read: "The Magpies' victorious nine-game run was ended by Bournemouth at St James' Park last weekend, but at St Mary's United will have the opportunity to move back into the Premier League's top four. Newcastle have plenty of motivation to fuel themselves for the long trip to the South Coast as Howe and his players look to put last Saturday's disappointment behind them against the struggling Saints."
Meanwhile it has emerged that Newcastle youngster Ben Parkinson has been ruled out until March with an ankle injury. The Durham-born goalscorer was hurt in training and has been denied the chance to go out on loan following excellent form with the second string this term with 11 goals.
