Nick Emmanwori stunned scouts with a record-setting performance at NFL combine

On Friday, it was the defensive backs' turn to take the field at the 2025 NFL scouting combine, and one player from that group has seemingly caught the eye of NFL scouts.

South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori turned in one of the best combine performances you'll ever see from a player who stands at 6-foot-3 and weighed in at 220 pounds in Indianapolis. Emmanwori turned in a blazing 4.38 40-yard dash and hit 43 inches on his verticle, the best in combine history for anyone weighing over 200 pounds, according to Next Gen Stats.

Not only was his perfect 10.00 Real Athletic Score — an unofficial combine metric created by Ken Lee Platte — the best among safeties at the combine, but it was the best RAS score for a strong safety in NFL combine history dating back to 1987.

Emmanwori was a three-year starter as a Gamecock, earning Freshman All-American honors in 2022. He totaled 244 tackles, six interceptions and 11 pass breakups during his career in Columbia.

In 2024, the Associated Press and several other publications named him a First Team All-American, and according to ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest big board, he ranks as the No. 2 safety in the draft.
