Nicolas Raskin refused to take the plaudits for Rangers' 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening, with the Belgian turning in one of his best performances for the Light Blues since his move to Ibrox almost two years ago - though he did challenge Hamza Igamane to continue his fine goalscoring form in the Premier Sports Cup clash against Celtic at the weekend.

Raskin bossed the midfield against mega-money stars James Maddison, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur, in a performance that kept Rangers on the front foot for the majority of the tie. Alongside midfield partner Mohamed Diomande, they helped their teammates register a draw in a result that pushes them closer to the Europa League knockout rounds, mathematically qualifying for the play-off rounds whilst remaining in the hunt for a last 16 place.

With Celtic coming up in the Premier Sports Cup final in the coming days, Raskin knows that he and his teammates can win something this season if they produce a similar performance against the Hoops.

But Raskin refused to be praised for his Tottenham performance, stating that it's the entire squad are starting to come together. He said: “We won everything as a team. The fans were amazing. We would have loved to win. I think if we were a little bit better with the last pass in the second half we could have scored the second one but we have been good.

“I think the midfield was really good. I think Dio (Diomande) played a great game to recover the ball. He had to be on time and make the good pass. Even when he is a bit late we can’t do it alone. It was a really good performance from the team and we are really happy.

“I think it’s about the good performance of the team (rather than just the midfield). To be fair, we just need to repeat the kind of performance we have been doing. We need to play the same way we have been playing. We need to go in and just win. It’s not about the midfield or the defence - it’s about the whole team. We have to go there with the fans and go for the win."

And the Belgian praised Igamane for his performance against the English outfit - and backed him to do the same against Celtic on Sunday. He added:

“Yeah, he is flying right now. But it’s about the next game and scoring in the next game. We want to push him. He’s a top guy, very humble. And I love to see him do well.”
