Nico Raskin lampooned for astonishing Rangers 'feeling safe' confession as Chris Sutton lets him have it
Unimpressed Chris Sutton was left gobsmacked by Nico Raskin claiming Rangers' rotten away form is down to the fact they feel "safe" in their Ibrox bubble.
The Belgian donned the armband in absence of James Tavernier and he reckons the home comforts they enjoy in Glasgow are missing when they hit the road. The Celtic hero was left bamboozled by the statement – with Rangers supporters drawing parallels to Tavernier's infamous comments in his captain's column before a game against Hamilton in 2020.
Speaking to Sky Sports in direct response to their four-game winless Premiership away run, Raskin said: "I don't know, to be fair. First of all, I think, at home we just feel it, maybe more safe, because it is Ibrox, we have the fans, we have everything, maybe that can play a game. But there can't be any excuses, because since you play football, you always play away and home. It's not something new for us.
"When you play some Scottish teams, you go over there and they are dropping in a little bit, waiting for you. You have to break the wall. It's bit different, to be fair. We came back from Manchester, we are all a bit tired right now. So, it's about recovering, going over there, do our best, show ourselves in a good way, do the dirty bit to make it easier on the ball. If we don't commit 100 per cent it will be a tough game for us."
And Sutton couldn't believe what he was hearing as he directly addressed it before kick-off between Dundee United and Rangers at Tannadice.
