Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will be out of action until at least April due to injury.

The Senegal international was taken off due to a hamstring problem during the Blues' victory over West Ham United last week. The injury caused him to miss Saturday's FA cup clash with Brighton, but Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was hopeful to have him fit for their next Premier League match against Brighton on Friday.

However, football.london understands Jackson will not be available again until until after the international break next month. It means the earliest fixture he could potentially return in is at home to Tottenham on April 2.

The striker has posted several pictures of a gym on his Instagram stories, indicating that he is already beginning the road to recovery. The forward also posted a picture of himself on Wednesday alongside the caption "time and silence."

Jackson has netted nine times and provided five assists in 23 league games this season but is still waiting for his first goal of the year. The 23-year-old last scored in the 2-1 win over Brentford in December.

But his injury is a serious blow to Maresca's side who will be without an out-and-out striker for the foreseeable future. Marc Guiu is also injured and currently has no return date.

The Spaniard Guiu went down towards the end of the comeback victory over West Ham at Stamford Bridge. "We are still waiting," Maresca said ahead of the first of two trips to Brighton in a week.

"It doesn't look like a short injury; it looks like a long injury. Exactly how long, I don't know. Probably weeks/months, yes."
