Niko Katic declares 'I f***** love it' as Plymouth hero shows Rangers love after joking he 'hated' ex Celtic teammate
Niko Katic helped Plymouth Argyle to a famous FA Cup win against Liverpool - then joked that he "hated" teammate Conor Hazard when he joined the club.
Despite being heavily linked with a return to Rangers in the January window, no deal was ever offered by the Ibrox club - and Katic instead joined the Championship strugglers. But as Philippe Clement watched his men dumped out the Scottish Cup by second tier Queen's Park, Katic and another ex-Ger, Ryan Hardie, were playing starring roles in causing an FA Cup shock for the generations.
Hardie's 55th minute penalty was all that separated the sides, but it was a Glasgow connection at the back that earned the plaudits - with Katic named man of the match, and Argyle's ex-Celtic keeper Conor Hazard pulling off some injury time heroics between the sticks to deny Diogo Jota. And the duo's post-match interview then had fans in stitches.
When asked about ex-Celtic keeper Hazard's performance, Katic joked: "At first when I came here I hated him because he's a Celtic guy and I'm a big Rangers guy. But at the moment we are good and I like to play with him, he gave us this win today." The Croatian continued: "I f*****g love it, I f*****g love it, that's why I came here. I recognised energy and everything from the first day with the new coach.
"It's a beautiful day for everyone here. It's good to get the confidence from it, but we have a hell of a job to work on things for the future. The key was our defensive structure and everyone gave 100 percent. We respect what the coach asked for us, and what we practised this week. That's it."
Hazard meanwhile laughed when asked about a stunning late save from Jota, adding: "That's just my job, isn't it? Keep the ball out the net the best I can. I'm delughted with it." And he heaped praise on former derby day foe Katic, adding: "What a performance. He's been instrumental since he came into our squad, he's made such a massive difference and we're lucky to have him."
