Nikola Katic 'thinking' about deal as Rangers transfer swirl explodes and Matondo loan addressed amid 3 escalating exits
Wantaway Nikola Katic is still considering his future at FC Zurich with reports in Switzerland ramping up talk over a return to Rangers.
Philippe Clement has snapped up defender Rafael Fernandes on loan from Lille so far this month - but the Light Blues are still facing injury woes at the back with the January window rapidly coming to a close. Leon Balogun limped off in the Europa League defeat to Manchester United with Robin Propper the only fit senior centre-back on the books with John Souttar, Dujon Sterling, Neraysho Kasanwirjo all sitting on the sidelines.
Clinton Nsiala has partnered the Dutchman in recent weeks while Leon King is back involved in the first team.. Record Sport previously revealed Bosnian Katic is ready to leave FC Zurich and was keen on a return to Glasgow.

Reports in Switzerland suggest that Katic is now training away from the first-team squad before Sunday's clash with FC Luzern as the centre-back ponders his next move. Tagesan-Zeiger report that a return to Ibrox is on the table with his current club leaving the door open for a move.
Asked about the future of the 28-year-old, sporting director Milos Malenovic said: "We have several players who are still thinking about a transfer. These guys are not all gone yet. What is next depends on who else leaves us. But even if we stay as a whole, we want to strengthen ourselves."
There could be more outgoings than incoming stars at Ibrox in the final days of the window - but Rabbi Matondo's loan move to Coventry City has collapsed. The winger is out of Clement's first-team plans with the likes on Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelace promoted from the B team.
Coventry boss Frank Lampard remained coy about any deal for Matondo, stating: "I’m not going to speak about that one today. He’s a Rangers player and I think it’s respectful to not speak about that one at this point."
Cyriel Dessers came off the bench to net against United - and his Old Trafford strike looks to have seen Cagliari ramp up their interest. Tutto Mercato Web state that the Serie A side will "step up" their bid to bring the striker to the club on loan before the end of the month.
Tom Lawrence is free to discuss an exit with clubs and pen a pre-contract agreement after entering the final six months of his deal. Besiktas have been named as an interest party - but Burnley have been encouraged to make a move if they fail to land Morgan Whittaker.
English Football League stalwart Clinton Morrison told Football League World: “I don’t think it would be a bad signing. Maybe if they can’t get Whittaker [Burnley could go for Lawrence]. It would be a good signing. If Lawrence is available, you don’t turn your nose up at that.”
Crocked Kasanwirjo also looks set to formally end his time as a Rangers player. The Feyenoord loanee has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury in November.
AD report that the Dutch giants want to "end the loan contract prematurely and has therefore scheduled a meeting with the Scottish club." This is to allow another player to leave on loan for a foreign league, with Feyenoord having already reached the Eredivise's limit of temporary exits to overseas clubs.
