'No matter' - Ruben Amorim makes promise to Luke Shaw after latest Man United injury nightmare
Ruben Amorim will give Luke Shaw as long as he needs to return to fitness for Manchester United and England after praising the work he had put in to get himself fit before his latest setback.
Shaw had come off the bench for three successive games as he worked his way back from injuries had kept him out for his club side since February, but he sustained a hamstring injury on the eve of United's trip to Arsenal and is now set for another period out.
The 29-year-old has started only one game in nine months - the Euro 2024 final - and has now sustained three different muscle injuries that have ruled him out of action in that period.

His latest absence is a blow for Shaw and for Amorim, but the United head coach promised to stick by his defender, who said he was "devastated" at his new injury on Tuesday night.
Amorim couldn't put a timeframe on Shaw's absence but he revealed that he had been putting in a lot of fitness work since his arrival and that if he continues to do that he will get back to his best for club and country.
"What I can say since I arrived, I see him in the medical department working a lot in the gym, working a lot on the pitch, we control the load during the games, during the trainings, he was losing weight, so he was doing everything," he said.
"If he continues to do that behaviour, he’s a top, top player and we need him. No matter how long he will need, I will be with him, we will help him to return, not just Manchester United but your national team needs a guy like Luke Shaw, so we are here to help him."
Shaw took to social media on Tuesday to confirm his new setback, writing: "It is hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately I've had a small setback," Shaw wrote on social media.
"I've been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs, but this has been my toughest period. I'm absolutely devastated and it's extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this time.
"I understand there's going to be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no-one feeling that more than me at this moment in time."
