Noah Lyles Delivers Smack Talk To Super Bowl Star In Novel Way After Indoor Win

American sprint star Noah Lyles can run, but he says Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill can’t hide.

The Paris Olympics 100-meter champ won the 60-meter dash at an indoor event in Boston on Sunday, then pulled out a handwritten note that read: “Tyreek could never.”

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix was televised by NBC, so Lyles knew Hill would quickly get the message.

“I think this says it all,” Lyles told the network. “When you’re ready to actually put some words down and you actually ready to race, see me. I’m right here. I ain’t going nowhere. But all I know is, your football season’s over. You ain’t got no excuse now.”

Oh yeah, Hill got the message. “Get a load of this guy,” the football speedster wrote on X with a photo of Lyles holding up the note.

In August, after Lyles won the Olympic 100 in a photo finish and settled for bronze in the 200 while ill with COVID-19, Hill declared he could beat Lyles in a race.

Lyles said in September that the two were negotiating to compete in a short sprint, though nothing has been solidified.

Hill, who starred for the Kansas City Chiefs in their 2020 Super Bowl win and in their 2021 loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has some cred. He clocked a lifetime best (and wind-aided) 9.98-second 100 meters in 2013 and a 6.64 60 meters in 2014.

Lyles ran a legal 9.79 in the Olympic final and finished his 60-meter race on Sunday in 6.52 seconds.

A televised showdown could be fun in a track year that will remain relatively quiet until the world championships in Tokyo this September.
