What Noni Madueke told Trevoh Chalobah about his Chelsea goal as two vital stars vs Wolves named
Noni Madueke has revealed he apologised to Trevoh Chalobah after Chelsea's 3-1 win over Wolves for converting the defender's goal-bound header from close range. Leading 2-1 thanks to earlier strikes from Tosin Adarabioyo and Marc Cucurella, Madueke gave the Blues a two-goal cushion in the 65th minute to deliver a hammer blow to the visitors.
Awarded a free-kick down the left flank, Chalobah climbed highest in the penalty box to connect with Cole Palmer's delivery and his header was on course to go in. However, Madueke came steaming in to nod the ball home from a yard out as he scored his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.
Chalobah did appear to have a word in the winger's ear during the celebrations and it resulted in the England international having a chuckle about it. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 22-year-old discussed his goal and revealed what exactly was said between the two players following Chelsea's third of the night.

"Obviously I got the hat-trick earlier on in the season and just another one today," he said on his impressive record against Wolves. "I'm delighted with the three points, it has been a tough run for us, and I'm always happy to score goals, especially somewhat easy ones like that.
"It's instinct, attacker's instinct. I think I knew it was going over the line but I said sorry to Trev after. An assist on his first game back is great for him but I had to put this in the net for sure!"
When Jamie Carragher joked that Chalobah didn't look too happy when they were celebrating, he added: "No, that's my brother. He was telling me 'no way you took my goal, no way you took my goal' but I said 'bro, come on, you have to understand that this is what they pay me to do.'"
Chalobah may not have capped off his Chelsea return with a goal but he did catch the eye in a rather impressive display at the back. Only recalled from his Crystal Palace loan spell last week, the Blues' academy graduate was immediately drafted into the Chelsea backline and partnered Tosin in defence.
Making a number of timely interventions, including one on Jorgen Strand Larsen in the opening minutes of the contest, he also came out on top for Chelsea in terms of interceptions, clearances, touches and he also was level for assists and chances created. It was no surprise then to see the 25-year-old claim Sky Sports' man of the match award for his performance.
Madueke was extremely impressed by Chalobah's showing and described it as "unbelievable". On his teammate, he said: "Leadership, character, bravery on the ball. He slotted in seamlessly so I am delighted for him.
"It is no coincidence with players like him and Reece [James] back in we won the game. They are Chelsea through and through and they helped us tonight with their leadership for sure."
Speaking in his post-match press conference about Chalobah, Maresca said: "Absolutely, he was very good. I said already that the reason he is back is because we are sure that he is going to help us and tonight he showed exactly that he is capable to do it.
"First of all he's a strong defender, he's quick, he can defend behind, he can defend forward. He is aggressive. But we already knew so this is the reason why we call him back."
