Herts Senior Cup Quarter-Final

North Watford will be the Watford Sunday League’s representative in the last four of the county senior cup after they won the all-WSL tie 4-1 against Evergreen.

The victors took the lead in the first half and built up a three-goal advantage in the second period before Evergreen pulled a goal back when Max Sahota headed home a Sam Robins corner.

But that was as good as it got for the home side, with their opponents adding a fourth soon after.

Ashley Lewis scored a brace, supported by singles from Ali Khan and Bertie Saunders.

They will face Wheathampstead Wanderers of the Hertfordshire 1961 Sunday League on March 16 for a place in the final on April 27.

Division One

The game of the season so far saw the top two at the start of play, Forza Watford and Everett Rovers go head-to-head, and it didn’t disappoint as Forza edged through 3-2 after a thriller.

The home side built up a 2-0 lead by half-time thanks to goals from Giuseppe Delgaudio and Clayton Blake.

The game was not over as early in the second half, Everett pulled a goal back from William Powell, but Delgaudio scored his second of the game to restore the two-goal advantage.

Everett netted a second through Emmanuel Ojeah, but it was not enough to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Rovers.

The Everett defeat allowed St Joseph’s Reserves to jump above them into second place after they beat Watford Youth Sports 1st 4-1.

Anton Collins was Joes’ star man as he scored twice late on in the first half, with the second goal a 25-yard free-kick which gave the Sports keeper no chance.

He completed his hat-trick in the second half, before Sports pulled a goal back through a Leon Mason volley, but it was Max Foley who rounded off the victory with a low right-foot finish.

Sparta Phoenix continued their good form as they won 5-1 for the second week running, defeating Chess United to move into fourth spot in the league.

They went ahead after a well-worked move down the right flank by Nelson Gomez and Floyd Thompson led to a cross into the box where George Pascoulis was on hand to net.

A second followed when Jonny Edwards played in Philippe Clarke down the left wing who outpaced his marker and scored with a composed finish.

Just before the break, Chess were awarded a penalty after Waleed Malik was brought down in the box and Sam Blackwood converted it.

The second half saw Sparta dominating as they added three more goals.

First a free-kick on the edge of the box from Joey Pascoulis saw his low effort slip under the Chess keeper at the near post.

Then as Chess chased the game, gaps opened up at the back and Sparta capitalised on the counter when a long ball over the defence found Floyd Thompson, who rounded the keeper and slotted into an open net to make it 4-1.

The result was rounded off when Joey Pascoulis picked out Sam Groves unmarked on the edge of the box and he gave the keeper no chance to seal an emphatic victory.

Division Two

It’s as you were at the top of the table after the top two, Woodside and Hertfordshire Athletic, both won.

Woodside edged past mid-table Batchworth 2-1 thanks to goals from Ellis Constantinou and Josh Towle, while Zack Boddy replied for the home side.

Athletic remain six points behind Woodside in second place, although they have three games in hand, after they won away 5-3 against Langleybury.

Athletic built up a 4-0 lead by the break before suffering a nervy second half as Langleybury battled back.

They went ahead when Evan King’s run and dribble sent the ball up for Henry Gibbor to tap home.

It was soon 2-0 as Luke Sutcliffe robbed the Langlebury right-back and raced clear to finish well, and Max Davies then scored twice to make it 4-0.

With nothing to lose, Langleybury fought back after the break, netting a penalty through Connor Sills and two Alex Murphy free-kicks, but with seconds left Athletic made sure of the three points when Ed Rogers set up Gibbor to score his second of the game.

Inter must be the most inconsistent team in all four divisions and on Sunday they inflicted a 3-0 home defeat on WD Bushey Rangers Reserves, just a week after losing to the same opponents 3-2 at home.

James Oldham netted a brace alongside a goal from Vinusan Vasanthkumar.

Division Three

Leaders Chorleywood Club AFC produced their best result of the season as they hammered fellow title contenders FC Railway 6-1.

Andy Pryor netted a double, with Emmanuel Manzan, Joe Berzins, Felix Ansah also on target. Tom Coleman scored the consolation for FC Railway.

Bricket Wood Acorns, in second place, beat bottom-placed Nascot AFC 6-0.

Jack Micklewright and Charlie Buss both scored twice, with Alex Michael and Harrison Fisher also finding the net.

Everett Rovers Reserves bounced back to winning form as they beat Abbots Wanderers 3-0 thanks to two goals from Tolu Agarawu and one from Charlie Powell.

A Tommy Edwards goal was enough for AFC Watford to edge out Surely Wood 1-0.
