Michel Vorm insists Alisson Becker will remain first-choice for Liverpool next season. The Reds have already agreed a £29m deal with Valencia to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer.

The looming arrival of the Georgia international has already called into question the future of back-up shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Republic of Ireland international likely to be granted an Anfield exit at the end of the season after being denied a departure last year. Nottingham Forest had bids rejected for the 26-year-old in both the winter and summer transfer windows in 2024.

Mamardashvili was recently caught on camera seemingly suggesting that the only reason he did not move to Liverpool last summer was because of the presence of Alisson at Anfield.

The Brazilian is the Reds’ undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, but has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

Out of contract in 2027, the 32-year-old’s long-term future is also unclear, though he has previously insisted he intends to see out his current deal despite transfer interest from Saudi Arabia.

Should Alisson stay put, Mamardashvili will be left vying with the Brazilian for starting status under Arne Slot next season.

And former Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Vorm has warned the Georgian he has next to no chance of becoming first-choice at Liverpool while Alisson remains with the club.

"For me, Alisson - it's not even a question,” the Dutchman told Sports Mole when asked who should be Liverpool number one next season. “For me, obviously [Mamardashvili] will compete.

“But [Alisson] has so much credit at the club at Liverpool. Something really crazy needs to happen [for him to displace Alisson]."
