'Not good enough' - Senior's disappointment as City Ladies slump to 5-1 thrashing
EMILY Senior viewed York City Ladies' 5-1 defeat to Durham Cestria as 'not good enough' on Sunday.
After the high of last weekend's 3-1 win over AFC Fylde Women took York out of the relegation zone, City were unable to build on the victory with a disappointing collapse against Durham.
The result however did not affect the Minsterbelles' position in the table, with Senior's side remaining in ninth position, but just two points clear of Doncaster Rovers Belles in the drop zone.
Senior reacted to the 5-1 defeat, telling club media: “[It’s] not [one to] forget because we have to take some real learning curves from it.
"If anything, I need the players to look in the mirror and recognise what they’ve not done well enough today, and then come into Wednesday’s fixture, which is another big one for us, and make sure that we right a lot of wrongs.

"Today was just not good enough, I’ve just said to the players that I’ve been quite hard, probably the hardest that I have been since I’ve come in.
"That’s the most disappointed I’ve felt since we’ve come in, we really haven’t turned up and I’m scratching my head a little bit to why.
"That character piece that I’ve always been so proud of since I’ve been here, we go into a lot of games as an underdog and we’re quite used to that now. But character has always been really strong, team ethic, really strong.
"Today that was non-existent and has cost us three points."
The Minsterbelles did start relatively strongly as Rosie Bell saw an effort parried by Durham shot-stopper Simone LeForestier, only as far as Felicity Jones who was again thwarted, this time by a block from Alex Gatt.
Durham came close when a corner kick was directed goalwards, only to be cleared off of the line.
But York wouldn't survive for much longer, as the hosts took the lead with 24 minutes played.
A pinpoint through ball from Alisha Mainwaring found Faye Dale, who beat Becky Sidwell in the one-on-one to rifle an effort home.
With half-time approaching, Cestria doubled their advantage as Erin Brown fed Lucy Noble, who faked a pass across goal back to the former with an easy finish from six-yards out.

A challenge from Mainwaring won possession back from goalkeeper Sidwell for Cestria, who then laid the ball back to Ashley Townsend to coolly convert.
Durham's lead soon extended to four with Daisy Clarke pressing a weak back pass, with the attacker beating Sidwell to the ball and rolling home.
And with the game already out of sight, Durham rounded off their scoring for the afternoon as Nicki Gears headed Anya Prested's corner into the net.
Any hopes of a result was already out of sight for York, but Senior's side did register a consolation as Grace Sykes slotted an effort past LeForestier.
