Nottingham Forest boss Nuno names team to face Liverpool in big Premier League showdown
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has named his Nottingham Forest team to face Liverpool in tonight’s key Premier League showdown.
The Reds go into this evening’s game knowing a victory would see them cut the gap on their table-topping opponents to just three points, albeit with Liverpool still having a game in hand. Nuno’s side are also full of confidence given their seven-match winning streak in all competitions.
Ahead of the game, the Forest boss remained reluctant to get involved in any discussion over whether the City Ground clash represents a tussle between two title contenders. But opposite number Arne Slot said in his pre-match press conference that he considers the Reds to be rivals for top spot.
After triumphing at Anfield in the reverse fixture back in September, Forest have the opportunity to do the league double over Liverpool for the first time since 1962/63. Nuno has made one change to his XI from the Reds’ last league outing, when they toppled Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0.
Ryan Yates is in for Nicolas Dominguez as the Argentine drops to the bench. It means a back line of Ola Aina, Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo and Neco Williams ahead of goalkeeper Matz Sels. Yates will partner Elliot Anderson in the centre of the pitch.
Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi will provide attacking support for front man Chris Wood. The bench will be made up of Carlos Miguel, Morato, Taiwo Awoniyi, Dominguez, James Ward-Prowse, Alex Moreno, Jota Silva, Ramon Sosa and Willy Boly.
Forest: Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Yates, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood. Subs: Miguel, Morato, Awoniyi, Dominguez, Ward-Prowse, Moreno, Jota, Sosa, Boly.
