Nottingham Forest are close to signing Paraguay international winger Ramón Sosa for £11 million, with Nuno Espírito Santo confirming the club are also targeting another centre-forward.

Forest have struck an agreement with Argentine club Talleres for Sosa, 24, after weeks of protracted negotiations and expect to wrap up a deal before the season begins.

Nuno has been determined to add more width to his squad ahead of his first full season in charge and Sosa is regarded as a genuinely exciting talent.

Forest completed the capture of Portuguese attacker Jota Silva last week, though it is understood there is a slim chance he could join Evangelos Marinakis’s Greek club Olympiacos on loan if Sosa and another winger arrive before the transfer deadline.

Sosa is set for a medical in the next 48 hours and regarded as a signing for the first-team this season.

Nuno, meanwhile, has revealed that Forest will be looking to add another forward this summer.

Forest have Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi as their main strikers but Nuno is targeting a younger, versatile addition.

He said: “We need options. It is clear that we have more balance in the squad but there are still positions that we have to pick.”

Forest have been linked with Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez and there is understood to be interest.

Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Carlos Miguel and Eric da Silva Moreira have all arrived at Forest so far this season.

Nuno’s Premier League campaign begins at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
