Nottingham Forest 'rival Leicester City for MLS star' as transfer talk ramped up
Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to rival Leicester City as both clubs ask about the 'negotiating margins' surrounding one of Major League Soccer's most prolific strikers.
According to journalist Valentin Furlan (via Inside Fútbol), FC Dallas forward Petar Musa is of interest to the Premier League duo as both consider bolstering their squads ahead of a crucial second half of the season.
Musa has been the standout figure in a Dallas side that finished 21st overall in MLS, scoring 16 goals in 30 appearances in the 2024 season for the Toros. The Croatian striker joined the club in February of 2024 from Benfica after averaging an impressive goalscoring rate of one every 97 minutes for the Portuguese giants.
At 6ft 3in he is a physical presence at the top of the pitch and has a knack of finding the net. Musa could provide good competition for the in-form Chris Wood, especially with Forest reportedly open to offers for current backup striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Dallas are apparently only interested in letting their number nine leave for an offer of more than €18 million, but it remains unclear how much Forest or the Foxes would be willing to fork out for him.
Premier League football would be a step up for the 26-year-old, but he has proved that he can adapt - and a backup role at the City Ground could be a win for all parties, allowing him to adapt gradually as Wood's understudy.
Forest have also been linked with Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians and, most recently, Brighton and Hove Albion's young star Evan Ferguson as they carefully consider their options this January transfer window. Nuno Espírito Santo and Evangelos Marinakis are wary of striking a balance in possibly improving the squad whilst maintaining squad harmony and momentum.
The Garibaldi are currently flying high in the Premier League after an outstanding first half of the campaign, currently sitting third in the division.
