Nottingham Forest set to make contract breakthrough with key Nuno man
Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed a new contract, in principle, with centre half Murillo after a stunning first half of this season. Brazilian Murillo signed for Forest from Corinthians in the summer of 2023 and signed a five-year deal upon arrival at the City Ground.
Since, though, the 22-year-old's performances have excelled; he's hit the ground running in the Premier League and, this season under Nuno Espirito Santo, has struck up a formidable partnership at the heart of the Forest defence with summer arrival Nikola Milenkovic. The pair have contributed towards eight clean sheets so far.
Murillo, who only cost Forest around £15m and is now worth significantly more than that, has inevitably been the subject of transfer speculation, due to the level of his performances on a consistent basis, linking him with a move away from the club. That wouldn't appear to be something that Forest have to worry about moving forwards, however.

Reports suggest that Murillo has agreed in principle fresh terms for a improved and extended deal, which will run until the summer of 2029. Indeed it's certainly a moment in time when you'd wish to be associated with Forest, who sit in third, level on points with Arsenal and six behind leaders Liverpool.
Murillo was called up to the Brazil squad for the first time in November; although he was an unused substitute in 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay, the call-up and international recognition in the first place points to the strides Murillo has made which have prompted Forest to act and tie down one of their prized assets.
