Nottingham Forest transfer news: Reds 'come knocking' for teenage talent amid contract demand
Nottingham Forest are said to be eyeing up teenage defender Taylan Bulut as they plot their January transfer window business.
The 18-year-old Schalke right-back is seemingly a man in demand this month, and the Reds are said to be one of the clubs keeping tabs on him.
According to German magazine Sport Bild, Forest have “already come knocking” for the youngster after he “caught their attention”. Fellow Premier League side Bournemouth are said to have done the same.
The full-back is under contract until the summer of 2026 but Schalke are said to be preparing to offer him fresh terms as they are aware the “market for Bulut is large”. However, there is apparently no guarantee the player will put pen to paper.
It is claimed a new deal would make Bulut among the German outfit’s highest earners but negotiations are expected to be “tough”. Sport Bild report the teenager would likely only sign an improved contract if a release clause is included.
Bulut, who has represented Germany at youth level, progressed through the academy at Schalke before breaking into the first-team last season. Also able to operate at centre-back, he has kicked on again this term to become a regular starter, with 12 league appearances under his belt.
Ola Aina has made the right-back spot his own for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds this season, after swapping over from the left. Neco Williams is also capable of playing on both flanks.
Last summer, Forest signed 18-year-old right-back Eric da Silva Moreira from St Pauli. Viewed as one for the future, he has featured three times for the first-team so far.
It is likely to be a relatively quiet window at the City Ground. Head coach Nuno already has a strong squad in place and the club’s focus is on retaining their key players.
