Nottingham Forest transfers as Evangelos Marinakis lays out January plans and Reds show 'most interest'
The January transfer window opens in less than four weeks and Nottingham Forest will have been combing market to find the player that could elevate their creditable start to the season into an incredible one.
Predictably the rumour mill has well and truly cranked up a few gears in recent weeks with a host of names, some well known others less so, many emanating from South America, being linked with the Reds.
And of course there’s that interview Evangelos Marinakis gave to Sky Sports recently, in which he was asked about his intentions for the January window.
Here’s a round-up of the latest transfer lines.
Bossing it
Marinakis’ discussion with Sky Sports inevitably touched on transfers – the Reds have been known to sail close to the wind with their numbers, indeed too close one year, and when he was asked about the club’s intentions next month, the owner said tacitly acknowledged this.
'We have the Financial Fair Play that restricts us from unlimited spending,” he said “We try our very best to make as much moves in order to strengthen our team wherever is needed.”
Left back saga
Earlier this week the Reds were linked with Anderlecht defender Moussa N’Diaye. The Senegalese defender, who is under contract until 2027, looks like a prime contender for transfer saga of the window. Further information has been put into the public domain, according to Anderlecht Online the Belgian outfit are in a strong negotiating position and are said to be demanding €10 million for a player claimed to be worth a fraction of that.
The website say Anderlecht are not minded to make any ‘hasty decisions’ about his future and that they will wait and ask for ‘substantial sums, certainly for January’.
Striker linked
According to Trivela Forest are seen as the option that has ‘shown the most interest’ in the future of Yuri Alberto but that Corinthians intend to go to any lengths to keep him until 2025.
They say his release clause for the international market is €80m and despite reported interest from clubs like Southampton and West Ham, Corinthians’ expectations have never been met. Trivela say they could be tempted to open talks for an offer in the region of € 25m.
The 23-year-old started out at Santos, moved to Internacional, had a period with Zenit St Petersburg before being loaned back and then sold to Corinthians. He has one Brazil cap, against Morocco in 2023 and scored 30 in 56 matches this season, with his team in seventh.
Gunner go
Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell three stars as Mikel Arteta attempts to trim down his squad. According to Mail Online, the Gunners would be willing to listen to offers for Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and former Forest loan player Nuno Tavares.
Portuguese defender Tavares is in the midst of a loab with Lazio - albeit there is an obligation to buy come the end of the campaign.
