Nuno Mendes is interested in a move to Manchester United in January. The 22-year-old has 18 months to run on his Paris Saint-Germain contract and is considering his long-term future.

Mendes, who joined PSG from Sporting CP on an initial loan deal in August 2021 before making the move permanent in the following summer, has been a key part of their success over the last couple of years. During his time in Paris, the Portuguese has made 100 appearances, scoring five times and adding 13 assists.

However, Mendes is now contemplating his future. According to FootMercato, the left-back has rejected PSG's latest contract offer as the club try and tie him down to fresh terms. PSG want to keep Mendes, a three-time Ligue 1 winner, amid interest from sides, including United, across Europe and beyond.

But Mendes is keen on reuniting with his former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim at United. Mendes worked with Amorim for almost two years at the Lisbon side before the defender left for PSG. The duo helped Sporting win the Primeira Liga in the 2020/21 - their first domestic league title in 19 years.

It's added that there is 'no chance' that PSG would allow Mendes to leave in the January transfer window and the French club want to continue negotiating over a new contract. But PSG will face a tougher decision in the summer if Mendes doesn't sign a new deal, as they face losing him for free in 2026.

Although Ruben Amorim confirmed last month he is not expecting January transfers, he could attempt to convince the United board to sign a new left-back. However, Diogo Dalot's performance against Liverpool on Sunday might be a sign that the club do not need to urgently strengthen that position.

Dalot, who has been used at left-wing back in recent times, impressed at Anfield and gave Trent Alexander-Arnold a real difficult ride throughout. He also managed to deal with Mohamed Salah at the other end and received well-deserved plaudits for his display. Noussair Mazraoui also shone on the right side.
