Nurnberg 3-5 Arsenal LIVE! Jesus two goals - Pre-season friendly result, match stream and latest updates today
Nurnbeg vs Arsenal - LIVE!
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side kick off their pre-season schedule this afternoon with a game against second-tier German outfit, FC Nurnberg. The Gunners have been on a training camp in Germany with some of their new signings on show, with Gabriel Jesus expected to get a first run out in Arsenal colours in just a few hours’ time.
The club will jet out to the United States for a more high-profile set of pre-season friendlies next week, where they play Everton in Baltimore before meeting Orlando City and Chelsea in Flordia. Still, while perhaps understated, the game in Germany affords Arteta to run the rule over his players for the first time since the summer break.
Clearly, these kind of games are not all about the result, but it would be promising to see Jesus in particular get on the scoresheet. Follow all of the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!

Plenty of entertainment.

18:18 , Alex Young
88min: Into the final few minutes in Germany and Jesus is pushing for a hat-trick.
18:13 , Alex Young
83min: A real shame for Schleimer, who is forced off with a nasty looking injury. He’s helped off the pitch and he’s shaking his head. Duman is on for the remainder.
18:11 , Alex Young
80mins: We’ve had five minutes without a goal. Remarkable.
GOAL!
18:05 , Alex Young

GOAL!
18:04 , Alex Young
73min: Nurnberg pull one back as Schleimer slams a half-volley home from six yards.
18:01 , Alex Young
71min: Five new faces and the tempo has dropped slightly. It looks a little cooler too.
17:58 , Alex Young
69min: Marquinhos is coming on for his debut. Plenty others as well, including Patino and Okonkwo.
Just over 20 minutes to play.
17:56 , Alex Young
66min: Elneny almost scores another screamer, but this time Mathenia does enough in the Nurnberg goal.
17:55 , Alex Young
Oh, wait, it's another own goal but another Jesus is close to claiming.
Four goals in 18 minutes as Handwerker puts into his own net after Nketiah hits the post.
GOAL!
17:53 , Alex Young
63min: Now Jesus does have a second! He’s left with a tap in after Nketiah hit the post.
GOAL!
17:49 , Alex Young
57min: I was going to write that Arsenal cannot stop scoring, but this one is a Schnidler own goal - though Jesus was putting the midfielder under plenty of pressure.
GOAL!
17:45 , Alex Young
55min: Elneny from at least 30 yards! Wow, what a strike!
Two substitutes with two goals. Arsenal are a completely different side.
17:41 , Alex Young
51min: Jesus is up for this one, I tell you. Desperate to impress, which he's already done.
He cuts inside the looks for space for another shot, but Nurnberg backtrack and hack the ball clear.
GOAL!
17:37 , Alex Young
47min: He’s already got a goal, too! Just 90 seconds after coming on, he runs onto a through ball and slams it past the goalkeeper at the near post.
17:36 , Alex Young
Gabriel Jesus is on for his Arsenal debut!
17:35 , Alex Young
The teams are back out for the second half. Plenty of new faces.
17:32 , Alex Young
Second half getting under way very shortly.
17:22 , Alex Young
Arsenal’s coverage of the game just said that Tierney went off “through injury”. Could just be the commentators assuming, of course.
Half-time
17:19 , Alex Young
46min: That’s your lot for the opening 45 minutes.
All change at the break, you’d imagine.
17:15 , Alex Young
43min: Smith Rowe taking a more central role now and it almost worked, as he maurades up the pitch before laying off to Pepe on the right. You can guess what happened next.
Clue: High and wide.
17:11 , Alex Young
39min: Welcome to the game, Cedric. He’s just wiped out Sorensen, but the defender looks OK to continue.
17:06 , Alex Young
34min: First change as Tierney is replaced by Cedric.
17:05 , Alex Young
33min: Arsenal aren’t getting anywhere near Nurnberg’s midfield three. Controlling proceedings with ease.
GOAL!
17:03 , Alex Young
29min: Poor from Lokonga in the centre releases Duah to fire across Turner and double the hosts' lead.
Arsenal need to wake up.
Geis goal
16:59 , Alex Young
Looking at the replays, and not taking anything away from the shot - from a centre-back - but not quite sure how Turner didn't get near that.
Straight down the middle, off the bar.
GOAL!
16:57 , Alex Young
24min: Well, that is a stunner from a centre-back! An absolute rocket from Geis off the underside of the bar and the hosts have the lead!
16:55 , Alex Young
23min: Both teams happy to knock the ball around in middle of the park at the moment. It’s hot and the first friendly of the summer, I get it.
16:52 , Alex Young
19min: Smith Rowe looks in the mood, y’know. Just stalking with left touchline and bursts into action whenever remotely close to the ball.
He looks to embark on a run inside but bundles Tempelmann over in the process to give away a free kick.
Chance!
16:47 , Alex Young
15min: The best opening for Arsenal and it’s through Smith Rowe, who bends an effort towards the far top corner which Mathenia does superbly to palm away.
16:45 , Alex Young
13min: Pepe appears to be a target for Nurnberg, with two players on the winger whenever near the ball.
Arsenal seeing more of the ball but not much in the way of attacking intent.
16:42 , Alex Young
10min: Nurnberg firmly on top but not making the most of their possession so far.
16:40 , Alex Young
8min: Little pause in play as Handwerker is down getting treatment. He’ll be fine.
16:38 , Alex Young
6min: Nketiah and Nelson are busy up top, harrying the Nurnberg defenders but the hosts are relaxed and play around the forwards.
Chance!
16:36 , Alex Young
3min: A great chance for Nurnberg as Moller Daehli whips in a great ball for Daferner to head at goal - it’s a free header from eight yards but he’s missed the target.
Turner was flat-footed.
Kick-off!
16:32 , Alex Young
We’re under way in Germany.
16:30 , Alex Young
Hector Bellerin is captain again.
He also wore the armband against Ipswich.
16:29 , Alex Young
Here come the teams. The Max-Morlock-Stadion looks packed.
Almost time
16:22 , Alex Young
Kieran Tierney warming up in the sunshine. Almost time for kick-off.
Vieira the cheerleader
16:15 , Alex Young
Summer signing Fabio Vieira is not involved today as he shakes off a foot injury, but he’s here to cheer on his new team-mates.
Who’s missing
16:07 , Alex Young
Notable absentees today include Bernd Leno and Rob Holding.
Leno has been heavily linked with a move away, while Holding is by all accounts fit so his absence is intriguing.
Ben White continues to be nursed back to fitness, but he is with the squad.

15:50 , Alex Young
So it’s an official debut from the off for Matt Turner, who completed his move from MLS last week.

Arsenal have been based as the adidas HQ since flying out, with the likes of Jesus getting to grips with his new team-mates.

There will be a few familiar faces on show this afternoon.
Christopher Schindler was a key player for Huddersfield for five years, two of with in the Premier Leauge, before heading to the German second tier.
Mats Møller Dæhli was a bit-part player for Cardiff about eight years ago.

Ahead of the game, Nurnberg unveiled their new kit for the campaign and... it’s rather nice!

Gunners tipped for more transfer business
14:54 , Marc Mayo
Arsenal “don’t feel they have finished just yet” as Mikel Arteta and Edu continue to try and improve their squad ahead of next season.
Four players have already joined the club this summer, with a £45m deal to bring Gabriel Jesus to north London from Manchester City the headline arrival thus far.
The Brazilian international follows Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira into the Emirates Stadium, while Arteta is keen on bolstering his defence.
