Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confident Paul Pogba will stay at Man Utd after missing AC Milan friendly

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has "no doubts at all" Paul Pogba will remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline after missing the friendly against AC Milan.

The World Cup winner has made no secret of his desire for a "new challenge" three years after arriving in a club-record £89m deal from Juventus.

The 26-year-old was originally named in the Man Utd squad for the friendly against AC Milan in Cardiff, but was nowhere to be seen at the Prinicipality Stadium after suffering a back spasm in training.

Reports continue to link the France international with a move away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid believed to be interested.

But after watching his side beat Milan 5-4 in a penalty shootout, Solskjaer insisted the playmaker will not be leaving this summer.

"Yeah, no doubts at all," Solskjaer replied when asked about Pogba's commitment to play for United.

The Norwegian played down concerns Pogba could miss the Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 11.

"No, I wasn't expecting him. I spoke to him after training and he didn't feel right," he added.

"He'll probably be back early on next week training, yeah. It's not an injury, it's just some pain.

"He's not injured but I wasn't going to risk anything this weekend. He should be okay for Chelsea."
