Oleksandr Usyk believes that Anthony Joshua would beat Tyson Fury should the two boxers ever meet in the ring.

The 37-year-old is perhaps best placed to call any potential match-up between the British icons after having the measure of both across four fights. The Ukrainian superstar is coming fresh off the back of his latest victory over Fury after he vanquished the Gypsy King on points.

All three judges scored the bout 116-112 in Usyk's favour as he retained his WBC, WBO, and WBA heavyweight titles. Saturday night's clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia marked the second time Usyk has put Fury to the sword after he first beat him back in May of this year via split decision, while Usyk also toppled Joshua, first in September 2021 and then in August 2022.

While many UK fans are fascinated to see how a fight would play out between the British heavyweights, Usyk was forthright in his convictions when asked, first who was a harder overall opponent, and then who would be the favourite between the two if they fought. Uysk revealed that Fury had been the trickier opponent across two brutal fights, but believes that AJ would beat Fury on "maybe points", via Boxing King Media.

With the prospect of a trilogy making clash between Fury and the Usyk looking some way off, if now a possibility at all, all eyes are now on whether a long awaited bout between Fury and Joshua can be arranged. A potential fight between the duo has been spoken about ever since Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

While it's been a titanic struggle to get the pair in the ring, it's been hinted by some of the sport's top movers and shakers that 2025 could be the year fans finally get to see Fury vs Joshua. With AJ losing to Daniel Dubious in September and being out of the title picture for now, a fight with Fury seems closer than ever.

Frank Warren insisted that Fury vs Joshua is the fight to make happen. That's if Fury decides he wants to carry on boxing at all.

"It’s what people will want to watch," Warren told The Sun. "The Fury - Joshua fight is a great fight and if it happens it will be a mega fight, it will be brilliant. But it will only happen if Tyson wants to do it and that’s a big if. And if he doesn’t want to do it, then so be it."

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn agreed. "The reality is there's only one fight for Tyson Fury and that's Anthony Joshua," he said.

"It's the biggest fight probably in the history of British boxing, everyone will always want to see it. For me, AJ against Fury is the one, it's the one at Wembley, I'm going to be pushing His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] to make the fight."

After being beaten by Uysk for the second time, Fury was asked what the future holds. "You might see me fight again, you might not," he said.

However Speaking to Sky News in October, the 36-year-old claimed he would still take on Joshua despite the pair being in the latter stages of their careers. While his opinion may have dramatically shifted since losing to Usyk again, Fury stated that he was not enjoying watching AJ's recent struggles and that he would be waiting for the former Olympic champion should their long mooted bout ever get the go-ahead.

"I feel sorry for him at the minute," Fury said. "When an adversary loses, and it's not to you, you do feel down and depressed about it. I felt sad for him. It was sad to see a worthy opponent lose his crown.

"I'd still fight him whether he's got five losses, 10 losses or 20. It's not important because, at this stage of our careers, it's about having good fights. I think it would still be an entertaining and interesting fight for the paying pundit."
