There was a hilarious moment in Oleksandr Usyk's post-fight press conference when his translator confused an Australian journalist with being Irish.

Usyk cemented his place as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world with a unanimous points victory over Tyson Fury in Riyadh on Saturday.

It was the second time the Ukrainian has beaten Fury on points and in doing so took his professional record to 22 fights without defeat.

The 37-year-old was in a buoyant mood after the fight as he faced a room of journalists for a press conference.

But both he and his translator looked miffed when an Australian journalist started asking a question.

Usyk's translator asked the journalist: "Can you ask the question once again but without the Irish accent."

The journalist hilariously replied: "I'm Australian."

Usyk was magnanimous in victory, saying: "He [Tyson Fury] is a great fighter, he is a great opponent. An unbelievable 24 rounds for my career. Thank you so much," Usyk said.

All three ringside judges gave Usyk the nod by four rounds. Fury left the ring immediately after the result was announced but said backstage: "I swear to God I thought I won that fight by at least three rounds."

Fury later added: "I thought I won the fight again, I was Larry Holmesed again. I was on the front foot the entire time.

"When you don’t get the knockout this is what can happen. I felt some Christmas spirit, I think he got a little Christmas gift from the judges."
