Richie Myler has singled out Oliver Holmes' experience as a key reason behind Hull FC's decision to sign the player. The back-rower has signed a two-year deal with the Black and Whites, with Myler hoping Holmes can use that experience to bring on the club's young rising talents.

The sixth signing of Hull's 2025 recruitment drive, Holmes has committed his future to the club until the end of 2026, with the 31-year-old having over 280 senior appearances to his name since making his professional debut in 2010.

A West Yorkshire native, the majority of those appearances came during a 12-season spell at Castleford Tigers, where Holmes was part of the squad that won the League Leaders Shield in 2017. Holmes then followed long-standing coach Daryl Powell to Warrington Wolves in 2022, before linking up with Leigh Leopards in 2023, where he was part of their Challenge Cup winning side.

A strong running back-row forward, Holmes has also featured for England at international level and has managed over 50 tries during his career. He is the fourth new addition from Leigh, joining John Asiata, Zak Hardaker, and Ed Chamberlain next season, with Jordan Abdull and Amir Bourouh also acquired.

Speaking on the signing, Myler said: "Oliver brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our back-row options in 2025. He’s been one of the most consistent performers in his position over the last decade, and we’re pleased to add him to our ranks.

"Similarly, with the signing of Zak (Hardaker), we’re hoping that he can play a key role in using that experience to help develop some of the young, talented forwards we have at our disposal next season."

Leigh have refused Holmes permission to speak to Hull, with no player quotes in the press release.
