Who is Omar Marmoush? Arsenal's January transfer 'target' dubbed the next Mohamed Salah
Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush is a name Arsenal fans can expect to hear plenty of over the January transfer window. The forward has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium following Bukayo Saka's injury.
The Gunners star is set to miss at least two months of action after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 5-1 win at Crystal Palace. It leaves Mikel Arteta incredibly short in the final third meaning a new face could come through the door next month.
Wolves' Matheus Cunha and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres are two names continuously tipped to complete a move to north London but Marmoush is a fresh name. Uncertainty over his long-term future in the Bundesliga has left Premier League clubs on red-alert - including Arsenal.

CaughtOffside have reported the Gunners are leading the race for his signature ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle. It's said they have enquired about his availability ahead of January.
With that in mind, football.london takes a look at who Marmoush is, his career and why Arteta may want to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Who is Omar Marmoush?
Born in 1999, the Egyptian forward stands at 6 ft 0 in and can play across the front line. He began his career at Wadi Degla. He made his professional debut in the Egyptian Premier League in 2016, grabbing an assist in a 3-2 win.
As a 17-year-old, Marmoush spent the 2016/17 season as a squad player with just six starts in his 15 league appearances. However, in the summer of 2017, he secured a move to Germany with Wolfsburg.
Two-and-a-half seasons with the reserves later and he made his debut for the German side in a 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. He made a further four appearances in the Bundesliga across June 2020 before joining St Pauli on loan in January 2021 - where he scored seven goals in Bundesliga 2.
Marmoush's spell in the second tier was followed by another loan, this time with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. By no means was it a brilliant season but the forward was then integrated into the Wolfsburg team for the 2022/23 campaign, making 36 appearances in total.
Last season was when he started to kick-on and attract interest. A move to Frankfurt was confirmed in May 2023 and he went on to score 12 Bundesliga goals in 29 games, registering a further six assists. The forward also netted four goals in the Conference League.
A brace against Borussia Dortmund and a goal in the 5-1 win over Bayern Munich are two of his stand-out moments of the season. He also became the third-highest African goalscorer in the Bundesliga, behind Victor Boniface and Serhou Guirassy.
This season, it's been impossible not to notice his heroics. 24 games played and he has already surpassed last season's figures with 18 goals and 12 assists. Now, with Arsenal interested, he could be availed for anywhere between £40m-£50m.
Away from club football, Marmoush is one of Egypt's most important players and has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah in being a success in the Premier League.
Why are Arsenal interested?
A quite simple reason is because Arteta is short. Saka's injury leaves just Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling available - the latter is suffering with his own injury problems. That isn't enough to challenge for the Premier League title, Champions League or FA Cup.
The signing of a forward is the priority in January and Marmoush ticks a number of boxes. He knows how to score goals, can create for his teammates, his tall frame and pace makes him a tricky customer for defenders. Of course, there may be some question marks over his ability to carry his form from Germany over to England but Arsenal have sanctioned that gamble before.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Granit Xhaka, Bernd Leno and Lukas Podolski were all signed from the Bundesliga.
