Omar Marmoush teases Erling Haaland partnership - and sends warning to Man City wingers
Omar Marmoush has told Manchester City - and his new teammates - that he will play anywhere for the team, setting out his stall to partner Erling Haaland rather than try and displace the striker.
Marmoush has 20 goals this season and 15 assists, mostly playing as a second striker but also as an out-and-out number nine. Haaland's new ten-year contract underlines his undroppable status, so Marmoush will be in no doubt that he has arrived at City in a supporting role.
And that is what he intends to do, quickly praising his new strike partner and vowing to assist him rather than gun for his number nine spot.

"Erling is a machine – a goal-machine. I’m very excited to play with him on the pitch and to learn from him too," Marmoush said. "Hopefully I can assist him, and we can enjoy playing together.”
And while Marmoush admitted he has played more as a number nine, he outlined his versatility as a number ten, second striker or even a left-winger.
“In the national team I play on the left wing most of the time. For my former club, I was playing the number nine role and sometimes at 10 too," he explained. "I’ve also played on the wing and right wing too. I can play all positions.
"I feel most comfortable behind a striker where I can turn and the way to the goal is shorter. I am comfortable in all positions though and wherever I play I will always give my all. On the pitch, I’m fast, good on the ball, try to find where the spaces are and try to exploit them. I’m dangerous."
Marmoush praised new manager Pep Guardiola and said his record for marginal improvements was a key factor in his decision to move to City, while he also namechecked Egypt teammate and Liverpool talisman Mo Salah as a motivation in moving to the Premier League.
He said: “Since I was young, it was my dream to play in the Premier League. I find that the league is very intense, and it fits the style of play that I have.
"I’m really, really happy to be the first Egyptian to play for Man City. To represent my country at a club like this is something I’ve always dreamt of. My dreams are becoming a reality, and I hope I can prove I can keep up with this level. The Premier League in Egypt is the biggest league and most followed league because of other teammates I have in the national team like Mo Salah and a lot of other Egyptian players who have played in the Premier League.
"Most of the players growing up… our dream is to be here and that’s why it makes me so happy that I’m here – to reach this beautiful league."
