Omar Marmoush transfer latest as Man City strategy clear amid £60million decision
Manchester City will soon complete a deal for forward Omar Marmoush as their January spending continues.
The Blues have this week completed deals for Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens and Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for a total of more than £60million. Both defenders joined in training with their new club on Tuesday ahead of the Champions League tie with PSG on Wednesday night for which both remain ineligible.
Khusanov, 20, and Reis, 19, have been signed with a view to the future but both will be given the chance to impress Pep Guardiola in the remaining months of the campaign amid injuries in defence. Ten players, including all senior defenders aside from Khusanov and Reis, were absent from the open training session in Manchester on Tuesday ahead of the flight to France.

The decision to significantly invest in young talent is a clear strategy from City and sporting director Txiki Begiristain. Despite a need for immediate impetus, City believe investing in youth and allowing the players the chance to progress and improve under Guardiola will yield results.
Speaking on the deals, Begiristain said: “For such a young defender, Abdukodir is already very intelligent, as well as being strong, aggressive and extremely quick.
“Working with Pep will only make him better and, speaking to him, he is determined to keep improving. He is a really exciting signing as we aim to keep progressing to maintain one of the best squads in Europe.”
He added: “Vitor Reis is one of the most promising young defenders in the world. In his short time in senior football in Brazil, he has shown he has the ability to go very far in the game and we know that working with Pep and our coaches will help to get the best out of him. He is excellent on the ball and outstanding in the air – he has all the attributes needed to be one of the best.
“Vitor is very young, but his quality is so high that we believe he can help us now and for a long time into the future.”
Meanwhile, the deal for Marmoush continues to progress with no hitches expected and the deal set to be completed in the coming days ahead of the Premier League game with Chelsea on Saturday.
