Omer Riza makes concerning Middlesbrough goals claim after Cardiff City draw
Omer Riza admitted his Cardiff City side knew not to give up after falling 1-0 behind to Middlesbrough, as he declared his delight in what he believed was a well-earned point at the Riverside.
Though remaining second-bottom of the Championship, the draw saw Cardiff extend their unbeaten run to three games. Emmanuel Latte Lath’s early goal was cancelled out by former Boro loanee Calum Chambers in just the 22nd minute to earn the visitors their point.
Though Boro dominated the majority of the game as far as possession was concerned, they struggled to break down the Cardiff defence, with Michael Carrick admitting his disappointment after the game at how few questions Boro asked of the opposition. Worryingly for Boro, having thrown away too many points this season, Riza knew his side had to keep their belief they could get something from the game, even after falling behind so early.

The Bluebirds head coach said: “I’m very pleased with the point. Middlesbrough are a very good team. There are no easy games in this league. Everyone is fighting for points, everyone needs points so no game is easy.
“When you come to places like this you have to make it hard for the opposition or they will dominate you and score three, four or five goals which they've done all season. But they've conceded at times as well which has left them without three points.
“We had to do that job today and to a man my team worked excellently and I think we deserved the point at the end just purely on our continued work-rate and work ethic.”
In a bit of a typical Boro moment, it was Chambers who netted the equaliser - and in quite some fashion too. The defender had only scored nine goals in over 250 career games prior to this one but produced a finish Emmanuel Latte Lath would have been proud of for what was his first goal for 34 months.
“It was worth the wait,” his delighted manager said. “It's brilliant that it's while he's with us. He took it very well, I'm just delighted for him, delighted for the team and just very happy to come away with a point. Calum has experience, he's played at the top level, and I knew he could do it and he has done a brilliant job out of position.”
