Cardiff City manager Omer Riza says he is hopeful the club will make "two or three" more signings before the end of the January transfer window.

The Bluebirds have so far only added striker Yousef Salech to their squad during the window, with the Danish forward proving the hero for his new side in midweek as he scored a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a point away to Millwall.

But more new faces are needed to help the club move further clear of the Championship relegation zone and Riza believes that a few extra acquisitions would be "massive" for his side in their fight against the drop. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

"Hopefully there will be two or three more," he said on Thursday. "It all depends on the situation at the clubs, it depends on how quickly we can get things moving or done, but things are definitely moving towards the right direction.

"I think it will be massive. We need a little bit more just to help the group, they've really got a real togetherness, and I think you can see that in the performances, but we need a few more just to push now and hopefully we'll get that."

While no new signings are expected before this weekend's clash with Derby, Riza says there are some "hopefully in the pipeline". After landing Salech in a deal believed to be worth over £3million, the manager praised Vincent Tan and the board for being "really good" in getting business done.

"Yousef, I wanted him, I've been tracking him for a while now so that was great to have that one done," he said. "All the other ones that I've suggested are hopefully in the pipeline, so the board have been really good, the owner's been really good with it.

"We're all on the same page, which is important. I said we had to be really selective about what we were bringing in, it's important you get it right."

The manager also addressed potential outgoings and admitted that "a couple" of players could leave on loan before the end of the window, with another "potentially" set to make a permanent move away from the club.

However, that won't be Ollie Tanner as Riza played down links between the Bluebirds winger and a move to Leicester City, Southampton, Burnley or Leeds United - with all four clubs reportedly tracking him.

Asked if there was anything in those rumours, the manager replied: "No. Ollie's a young lad, he's one of ours and he's doing really well. We need him, like we need all the other players in our team, and he's doing well. He's focused on doing his job at Cardiff and that's it, really."
