'One of the best' - Daniel Farke has already given clear verdict on Leeds United transfer target
Daniel Farke has already given his clear verdict on Leeds United target Nico Elvedi. The Championship leaders were have been linked with a move for the £8million rated defender who Farke once described as "one of the best central defenders in Europe".
The Whites have competition in the form of Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, Farke's previous relationship with the Switzerland international could give Leeds the edge in any potential transfer negotiations.
Elvedi played under Farke at Monchengladbach for 12 months between June 2022 and June 2023. The central defender would provide some much-needed depth in the heart of defence with Pascal Strujik, Joe Rodon and Max Wober the only first-team centre-backs in the Whites' senior squad.

In the Bundesliga this season, Elvedi has played nine times - missing a chunk of the campaign due to a thigh injury. He has spent the last ten years at Borussia-Park, after joining from Zurich in 2015, and has made over 300 appearances for the German club.
Elvedi played 32 league games and scored three times during Farke's one and only season with Die Fohlen. The current Leeds boss praised the defender for his abilities not only on the pitch but as a leader.
“Nico Elvedi is an absolute leader for us,” Farke said during his time at Monchengladbach. “When he is at his best, he is one of the best central defenders in Europe. He has proven that over the years."
The admiration went both ways with Elvedi also praising the 48-year-old. In 2022, the defender, who has been capped 56 times by Switzerland, was impressed by Farke's training methods.
Elvedi said: “My first impression of the coach is good. I heard from my teammates that the training sessions are supposed to be very tough, and I experienced it for the first time this morning.
“But that’s good too. Training is supposed to be tough, because it’s important that we’re fit for the season and can give it our all for 90 minutes.”
