Manchester United will be targeting a swift return to winning ways when they welcome Rangers to Old Trafford in the Europa League tonight.

United suffered a fifth defeat in their last eight matches on Sunday afternoon, losing 3-1 at home to Brighton. After the contest was level at 1-1 at half-time, Brighton seized control after the break via goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter.

That reverse marked a fourth defeat in six Premier League games for the Reds. United are still unbeaten in the Europa League so far this season, winning three and drawing three of their opening six league phase matches.

United currently occupy seventh in the table, one place and one point ahead of Rangers, meaning they are currently in a position that will see them automatically qualify for the last-16. A victory, depending on results elsewhere, could be enough to see them qualify with a game to spare.

Despite goalkeeper Andre Onana being guilty of committing another costly mistake in the defeat to Brighton, fumbling a cross in the build-up to the Seagulls' third goal, the Cameroonian is likely to retain his place in goal. He has started every Europa League game this term.

Lisandro Martinez fell foul of head coach Ruben Amorim's rotation policy against Brighton, being dropped to the bench, meaning it is likely he will be recalled and start on the left of the back-three. He could join forces with Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire for the first time since the FA Cup triumph over Arsenal.

Noussair Mazraoui has been a regular starting at right wing-back in recent weeks and could continue in that role. Diogo Dalot is likely to start once again in the opposite wing-back berth.

Amorim has refused to tinker in midfield in recent matches, meaning Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo could start alongside each other in the centre of midfield for the fifth game running. But in the event of Amorim making a change, Christian Eriksen, Toby Collyer and Casemiro will be waiting in the wings.

Amid the prospect of Mazraoui continuing as the right-sided wing-back, Amad should retain his place as the right-sided No.10. Joshua Zirkzee deserves to keep his place after a battling performance at the weekend and Bruno Fernandes is a shoo-in as captain.
