When is opening ceremony at Paris Olympics? Start time, where to watch and stream

Editor’s note: Follow Olympics opening ceremony live updates.

On Friday, flag bearers will lead delegations from over 200 countries down the Seine for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

The ceremony will mark the "official" start of the Paris Games on July 26 despite certain sports beginning their competitions earlier in the week.

Paris' plan to host the parade on the river marks the first time in the history of the Summer Games that the Olympics opening ceremony won't be held in a stadium. The trailblazing method will give hundreds of thousands of people the opportunity to witness the ceremony in-person rather than limiting the crowd to the capacity of an arena.
