New opponent for Maryport bare-knuckle boxer's big fight
Maryport bare-knuckle boxer Bartek Kanabey has a new opponent for his big fight in Newcastle.
The west Cumbria-based fighter will now take on Lewis Garside next month.
Kanabey had originally been set to face Liverpool's Ray Putterill.
But a switch of opponent has now been confirmed and MMA fighter and BKFC debutant Garside, from Sunderland, will now face the 26-year-old Kanabey, who is nicknamed 'The Polish Plough'
"Little change, new opponent, same outcome!!!" declared Kanabey on Instagram.
The featherweight bout is on the card for BKFC Fight Night at Newcastle's Walker Activity Dome on Saturday, February 8.
It will be a fourth fight on the major BKFC platform for the Cumbrian, who has two victories and one defeat to his name so far.
Kanabey has already enjoyed wins over Shaun Kissane and Bakhtyor Kudratov before defeat to Jack Culshaw in his most recent fight in Newcastle last June.
Kanabey, who trains at Just Grind in Workington, stepped up to the national BKFC scene after successful performances in the west Cumbria-based WBKB events.
He became a double WBKB champion with victories in lightweight and featherweight divisions in consecutive years.
He is one of two west Cumbrian fighters on the BKFC stage, with Egremont’s Agi Faulkner having last month become European heavyweight champion by defeating Dawid Oskar in Newcastle.
