Jarell Quansah said that some opposition players have been coming up to him in the middle of matches to comment on how good the Liverpool fans' chant for Luis Diaz is.

The chant, sung to the tune of the Italian protest song Bella Ciao, has been bellowed out by thousands of Reds fans at matches around the country over the last year or so.

The lyrics, which are usually shortened when sung in the stands, go like this: "His name is Lucho, he came from Porto, he came to score, came to score, came to score, score, score. He's Luiz Diaz, he's from Barrancas, and he plays for Liverpool."

It's not only Liverpool's players and fans who have been enjoying the chant, with center-back Quansah revealing that players from other teams have commented on it during matches against the Reds.

“The opposition players have come up to me and said it’s probably the best chant they’ve heard as well,” Quansah said in a video released by club media, while Curtis Jones and Ibrahima Konate also said that Diaz has the best chant of any current Liverpool player.

Liverpool musician Andy Hodgson is the man behind the song, which is simply titled LUCHO, releasing it in 2023, the year after Diaz joined the Reds from Porto.

Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot expects to have Diaz available for Saturday's Premier League trip to Brentford despite the winger missing training on Thursday due to illness.

“I assume he is [OK], yesterday he wasn’t allowed [at training] because he had, I think it was, a bit of a sore throat," Slot said in his press conference on Friday “But I assume he will be training with us today. But I still have to hear this, but we are expecting him to train with us today.”
