Over 70s badminton team take part in Masters' County Challenge
The Isle of Wight over 70s badminton team recently played in the Masters' County Challenge held at the Leaf Academy in Bournemouth.
The matches consisted of one ladies', one men's, and one mixed game.
The IW were up against strong opposition from Cornwall, Dorset, and Middlesex.
The first match on Saturday proved a winner for the IW, beating Cornwall 2-1.
Dot Anderson and Sue Rutherford won the ladies' and Brian and Chris Amy won the mixed.
There were some closely fought matches, with the IW managing to beat Dorset 2-1.
Overall, the team played well.
It was an enjoyable weekend with a very sociable and energetic Saturday evening, joining with other counties at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth.
Representing the IoW were Brian Amy, John Blenkinsopp, Colin Lovegrove, Ian Parker, Chris Amy, Dot Anderson, Sue Rutherford, and Den Scott.
