Patrick-Rivers nets four as Bromyard Town run riot

MATTHEW PATRICK-RIVERS scored four goals as Bromyard Town FC cemented their top-six position in the Zzoomm Herefordshire League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon following a resounding 9-2 victory over Ro-Stars Hereford at the SSAFA County Ground.

The north Herefordshire visitors raced into a 4-0 lead within the opening half-hour of their opening match of 2025 before the hosts reduced the deficit.

Bromyard Town led 6-1 at the interval before eventually adding three further goals in the second half.

Patrick-Rivers led the way for the Delahay Meadow club with four goals and was supported by single strikes from Ben Cowlishaw, Curt Townley, James Batchelor, Callum Kinsella and Morgan Wood.

Ro-Stars with a consultation goal in each half courtesy of Leonard Patrascu and then Leonard Patrascu as their side were comfortably beaten.

Bromyard Town will be hoping to continue their scoring form on Friday night when they travel back to Hereford to face seventh placed Hereford Pegasus FC Development.

At the summit of the Herefordshire Premier, it was University of Worcester-based AFC Kempsey who took top spot with a 4-1 win at home to Hereford Pegasus FC Development.

Will Stallard scored a brace for the new leaders, while Josh Cochrane and Ryan Smith were also on the score-sheet.

In what is shaping up to be a three-way battle for promotion Alcester Town are a point behind, but have four matches in hand.

Meanwhile, New Dales Vale are also joint second on points and have two matches in hand over leaders Kempsey.

In the only other Herefordshire League Premier tie to beat the weather Gloucester City Reserves recorded a 4-1 home win against Welland.

Caleb Thomas scored all four goals for Gloucester who play at the Tigerturf Stadium.

In the only other game to beat the freezing weather AFC Worcester seconds recorded a 4-2 win against Belmond Wanderers in Division Two.

The Worcester hosts struck early with Jack Handsaker, Zac Bernard-Pullen and Max McLay all netting inside the opening 25 minutes.

McLay then scored a second to conclude his side’s scoring, while Owen Bolton and Alex Lancett scored in reply for the Hereford-based visitors.

This weekend in the Herefordshire Premier third placed New Dales Vale are due to travel to Hereford to meet basement side Westfields Reserves.

Meanwhile, Gloucester City Reserves face a long trip across the county to meet fourth placed Kington Town at Mill Street.

The all-Herefordshire ties can be found in Division One with a host of county derby ties.
