Paul Dummett involved in car crash as ex-Newcastle United star misses Carlisle debut
Former Newcastle United star Paul Dummett was forced to miss his prospective debut for League Two side Carlisle United this weekend after being involved in a car crash on Friday morning.
The defender was driving to training when he was involved in a minor incident that left him with cuts and bruises, rather than anything more serious. Dummett went to get checked over by medical staff and was left out of Carlisle's home game against Bradford City, which they lost 1-0.
The 33-year-old will be back in the squad for the trip to Fleetwood Town next weekend as he bids to help former Newcastle team-mate Mike Williamson steer Carlisle to safety, despite sitting rock bottom of the fourth tier.

"He's ok," Williamson said. "It was a car crash and he's had to just go and get checked over. There's nothing else that's going to be ongoing.
"We just felt as though with the situation and the day he spent [being assessed in hospital], it wasn't advisable to involve him today. But he will be hopefully fit and ready to go next week. He was in [on Saturday]. He saw the doc [club doctor].
"I think he's just been checked over and everything's fine. So he'll be good to go. He'll be in training on Monday and we expect him to be fit next weekend."
Dummett left Newcastle in the summer after making five appearances for the club last term. He spent the first half of the campaign at Wigan Athletic before arriving at Carlisle earlier this month.
