Paul Merson's 'strong feeling' about Newcastle United as Bournemouth prediction made
Newcastle United are out to make it an incredible 10 wins in a row when they face AFC Bournemouth at St James' Park this weekend - and they've been strongly backed to get the job done. Fresh from the midweek win over Wolves, Eddie Howe's side are ready to go again against a Cherries side also in top form.
Alexander Isak continues to fire in the goals for United, and that could prove to be the difference on Tyneside, with the Swede in sensational form. Howe could recall Fabian Schar after the Swiss defender missed out through illness in midweek, but otherwise has the same squad available to him.
As always, the Premier League pundits have made their predictions for the big weekend games - and they've all agreed on Newcastle United's chances. Here's what they've had to say.

Paul Merson
“I know Bournemouth have been playing really well but I have a strong feeling about Newcastle winning this game," Merson told Sporskeeda. "Bournemouth were blown away by Chelsea in the first half of that 2-2 draw in midweek. Newcastle are playing much, much better than Chelsea and they will be more ruthless in front of goal!
"In my opinion, Alexander Isak is the best No.9 in the Premier League right now. You look at Erling Haaland and hisbody language isn’t as good as Isak. Of course, you can never count Haaland out because he can just score back-to-back hat-tricks and we will all be talking about him again. But honestly, it is not looking like that at the moment.
“I believe Isak’s success is also down to the midfielders playing behind him at Newcastle. Sandro Tonali has just returned to that midfield and formed a great partnership with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton. Every single one of them is playing at the top of their game. It would be the perfect month for Newcastle if they can progress to the final of the EFL Cup and consolidate their grip on top four in the coming weeks. Some teams get into the top four and they go three games without a win before finally falling behind. Newcastle must avoid doing that and I’m confident they will get the better of Bournemouth in a big win.
Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Bournemouth
Harry Redknapp
"Wow, Newcastle are absolutely flying at the minute," he told BetVictor. "They might just be the form team in the country! I know everyone will point to the goals from the main man Alexander Isak up top but the whole team is playing so well from those two young full-backs to Bruno Guimaraes in midfield and Anthony Gordon out wide.
Bournemouth so nearly got what would have been a fantastic win at Chelsea. I’m curious what they’ll do up front, they’ve obviously lost both strikers to bad injuries, you’d have thought they’d go and find an option in the window. I just think Newcastle at home, in this form, will be too strong."
Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth
Mark Lawrenson
"The kick-off time is a nightmare for the Bournemouth fans," Lawrenson told Paddy Power. "Newcastle have won nine straight games in all competitions which is just amazing for them and I think they might get to double figures. Alexander Isak is absolutely on fire as well which is, no doubt, helping a lot.
"Bournemouth had a good point at Chelsea during the week and they should actually have won really. All in all I can see this being quite comfortable for Newcastle."
Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Bournemouth.
