Randal Kolo Muani will not be joining Manchester United on loan this January as a switch to Juventus has instead been confirmed, and he revealed Paul Pogba was just one individual who helped make the decision.

Ruben Amorim would ideally wish to bolster his attacking options for the remainder of the season and as reported by MEN Sport, Paris Saint-Germain's Kolo Muani was a player they considered.

The Frenchman had also been a Man United target in the summer of 2023, when Rasmus Hojlund instead completed the move to Old Trafford whilst Kolo Muani's destiny was going back to his homeland's capital for £64.2m.

But like the previous time, a move to Old Trafford wasn't to be as the striker has instead opted for a short-term loan to Italian giants Juventus.

This was officially confirmed on Thursday, following a small hiccup. Juve are paying a loan fee of €1m (£843k) plus additional costs of €2.6m (£2.1m).

Via Calcio Mercato, he told his club: "I'm very happy to be here, proud to wear this shirt and play in front of our fans."

What's more, Kolo Muani spoke of the French connections to Juve both past and present that influenced his decision when seemingly Man United and other Premier League rivals were in the frame for the loan.

"There have been many French players who have made history here. Like [Zinedine] Zidane. I liked [David] Trezeguet. Closer to us was [Paul] Pogba, then there's [Khephren] Thuram. I'm happy to be here."

Of course, Pogba might have been a team-mate of Kolo Muani's now had the Old Lady not terminated his contract following a failed doping test, resulting in a four-year ban from the sport.

That suspension was eventually reduced to 18 months, ending this March. The ex-Man United midfielder has been linked with an Old Trafford return amongst plenty of other clubs globally as he prepares to get his career back on track.
