Paul Pogba sent Manchester United supporters into overdrive on Saturday evening as he appeared to be starting a charm offensive to tempt Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford.

The midfielder, who nicknamed himself Agent P for his role in helping United beat Chelsea to the signing of Romelu Lukaku, got tongues wagging with his antics at the Emirates.

Ozil is believed to be considering swapping life in London for a move north to Manchester in the summer when his contract expires with the Gunners.

It certainly appears he won’t be short of friends if he does decide to jump ship on a free transfer with Pogba giving his opposite number a friendly embrace in the tunnel.

Manchester United would go on to win the match 3-1 in the capital, however it wasn’t all good news for their French star as he was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge.

Ozil finished the match by heading over to members of the United coaching staff, who he worked with at Real Madrid, only adding more fuel to the speculation linking him with the club.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho refused to rule out a swoop for the German international during his post-match press conference.

“That’s football,” Mourinho said of Ozil’s current situation. “Marouane Fellaini finishes his contract. There are other players in Europe, important players in other teams, they finish their contract.

“Sometimes players they decide to go in this direction, which is a right that they have.

“They gamble, because imagine if one of these players has a big injury. Then probably next season he is without a club, but players have the right to do that.”

Pogba’s red card was a major blow to United as the dismissal will now rule him out of the forthcoming Manchester derby with Pep Guardiola’s table-topping City side.
